The expandability of the Peplink Balance-20X router covers various aspects:
- Virtual WAN licenses: The Balance 20X includes a virtual WAN license with a valid PrimeCare subscription, at no additional cost. Up to three additional virtual WAN inputs can be added via the Virtual WAN Activation License to increase the flexibility of the device.
- FlexModule Mini Slot: The router has a FlexModule Mini Slot that can accept different types of WAN technologies, making it ready for upgrades.
- Backup WANs: It is possible to add a mobile radio backup or a module for xDSL, with up to two links via the FlexModule Mini and redundant SIM cards.
- Wi-Fi Mesh Support: Together with an AP controller, this feature enables mesh expansion of the network to extend network coverage and minimize dead Wi-Fi zones.
- FirstNet Ready: The router supports FirstNet (Band 14), a specialized LTE network for first responders that offers higher priority and network capacity.
- 5G module: There is a 5G module with redundant SIM slots that offers data transfer rates of up to 4 Gbps (downlink) and 700 Mbps (uplink).
- VDSL module: A VDSL module is also available and compatible with Balance 20X HW2 or higher.
- LoRaWAN module: A LoRaWAN module can also be integrated, offering an 8-channel (half-duplex) capacity and a typical sensitivity of up to 141 dBm.
In addition, the router supports functions such as WAN link health check, intelligent failover, load balancing, complete VPN solution, advanced QoS, network settings, AP controller, security functions and device management. The router requires a power supply of 10V to 30V and is supplied with various antennas and a power supply unit.
