Based on the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard, the RUCKUS® R850 bridges the performance gap between gigabit and multi-gigabit Wi-Fi technology, meeting the limitless demand for better and faster Wi-Fi connections.
The RUCKUS R850 is our largest capacity dual-band and dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP), supporting 12 spatial streams (8×8:8 in the 5 GHz band, 4×4:4 in the 2.4 GHz band). Equipped with OFDMA, TWT and MU-MIMO technology, the R850 enables efficient management of up to 1024 client connections and offers higher capacity and optimized coverage and performance in ultra-dense environments. In addition, a multi-gigabit Ethernet port with 5 Gbit/s reduces backhaul capacity bottlenecks.
The R850 is also IoT and LTE capable and, in combination with the RUCKUS IoT Suite and our CBRS/OpenG modules, supports wireless standards beyond Wi-Fi.
The R850 meets the increasing client demands of transit account points, auditoriums, stadiums, conference centers and other high-traffic indoor environments. The access point is the perfect choice for data-intensive multimedia streaming, such as the transmission of 4K videos, as well as for voice and data applications with high latency and quality of service requirements.
The R850, together with the RUCKUS Ultra-High-Density Technology Suite, unique to the RUCKUS Wi-Fi range, delivers a huge improvement in network performance. This is achieved through a combination of patented innovations in wireless technologies and learning algorithms that include the following:
- Airtime optimization:Increasing the average network throughput in busy environments
- Management of transient clients:Reduction of interference caused by traffic from disconnected Wi-Fi devices
- BeamFlex® antennas:Greater coverage and optimized throughput thanks to the patented multidirectional antennas and radio patterns
Whether you deploy ten or ten thousand APs, the R850 is also easy to manage with our on-premise and cloud options.

ACCESS-POINT-ANTENNA-PATTERN
RUCKUS’ BeamFlex+ adaptive antennas allow the R850-AP to dynamically select from a large number of antenna patterns (over 4,000 possible combinations) in real time to provide the best possible connection to each individual device. The result:
- Better Wi-Fi coverage
- Reduced HF interference
Traditional omnidirectional antennas, such as those found in commercially available access points, oversaturate the environment by unnecessarily emitting RF signals in all directions. The RUCKUS BeamFlex+ adaptive antenna, on the other hand, routes radio signals per device on a packet basis to optimize Wi-Fi coverage and capacity in real time and support high-density device environments. BeamFlex+ can operate without the need for device feedback, allowing even devices using outdated standards to benefit.
Note: The outer line represents the composite RF coverage of all possible BeamFlex+ antenna patterns, while the inner line represents a BeamFlex+ antenna pattern within the entire outer line.
