This 5G module is designed for current and future 5G networks in Europe, America and other regions. The module supports both the mixed-mode combination of LTE+5G networks (also known as "5G non-standalone") that are in use today and the use of "pure" 5G (also known as "5G standalone"), which is to be introduced in various countries.
In addition to 5G, the module also supports 4.5G LTE-Advanced (category 20). The 4x4 MiMo technology is used for both 5G and 4G. Compared to previous 4G modems, which only supported 2x2 MiMo, this module offers better performance, especially in situations with poor network coverage. The module also supports fallback to 3G UMTS.
Up to two SIM cards can be inserted into the module and selected via the router's web interface.
The module is equipped with the standard Viprinet hotplug module connection. When used in existing modular Viprinet routers, it can provide "real" 250 Mbps, which is largely in line with what can actually be expected in 5G networks deployed today.
The module also has a secondary hotplug connection, which will be used in future router models. This will enable the module to provide speeds of more than 1 Gbit/s as soon as 5G SA networks support this with higher frequency bands. This makes this 5G module extremely future-proof. It can be used with today's router generation with 4G or 5G, and in the future in upcoming faster Viprinet routers and improved 5G networks to provide gigabit speeds.
Two high-quality MIMO antennas are included with the module. These can be placed on any surface, especially on metal thanks to the magnetic base. With the tripod thread, the antennas can also be mounted on a wall or tripod. Thanks to the standard SMA antenna connections, any antennas from other manufacturers can also be used.
